Maulana Jalaluddin Balkhi (play)
Jalaluddin Balkhi, known as Rumi in the West, was born in 1207 A.D. in the city of Balkh in the greater Khorasan province of Iran (in present day Afghanistan). He remains one of the greatest and most beloved Persian poets of all time. In 2007 UNESCO commemorated his life and legacy by declaring it the “Year of Rumi”, with several celebrations taking place in large and small cities all over the world.
